Heat pumps are the perfect solution for Auckland’s humid climate.

Why a heat pump is a great solution for Auckland’s climate

Imagine if your home was cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Would you sleep better? Would you breathe drier air? Would condensation in winter be banished? Install a heat pump and the answer is yes.

The Auckland climate makes for some humid and sticky days. A heat pump helps “leave summer outside” so you and your family stay cool and comfortable no matter how hot it gets. In winter humidity causes condensation and damp. A heat pump means you say goodbye to clammy sheets and weeping windows.

breathe easy

Breathe easy in a healthier home

Treated filters inside a heat pump catch pollen, bacteria and mould spores giving you a healthier home environment. Heat pumps also dehumidify the air. This means fewer trips to the doctor and fresher, cleaner air to breathe.

Sufferers of Asthma, Bronchitis, Hay fever and Arthritis breathe easier and enjoy a better quality of life which is why Fujitsu is recommended by Asthma New Zealand.

heat pumps are energy efficient

Efficient and cheap to run

Most heat pumps operate at an efficiency of around 5 to 1 (though it can vary, check the product for exact figures.)

That means you get 5kw of heat for every 1kw of power you use - or to put it another way - $5 worth of heat for every dollar of power.

enjoy a healthier dryer home with a heat pump

Safer for you and your family

Heat pumps do not contain anything that may put you or your family in danger. There are no naked flames, no heating elements and no fumes.

That means no stress when it comes to curious little ones or forgetful elderly relatives.

How do heat pumps work

Heat pumps transfer free heat from one place to another. Using the same principle as your fridge, they compress gas and then allow it to expand extracting heat as they do so.

Two coils, one inside your home, and one outside are linked to draw warmth from the outside air (even on a cold winter's night) and transfer it into your home.

A major advantage over electric or gas heaters is that heat pumps do not have heating elements to burn energy.

In the summer your heat pump can run in reverse, acting as an air conditioner to pump heat out of your home reducing humidity and keeping it fresh and cool.

Which heat pump is right for me?

Here’s a simple checklist to help you find the solution for you.

How many rooms do you want heated?

You can buy a single heat pump to heat a single area or room, a multi-system to heat 2, 3 or 4 areas, or a fully ducted system if you wish to heat your whole home.

Many people start with a single unit, and later, when they see just how convenient and comfortable heat pumps can be, go on to buy more units for other rooms.

What you should expect from your Heat Pump

Today’s heat pumps come with a variety of features. However, there are some basic requirements that are important:

Quality - It is important to choose a brand you can trust. Fujitsu offer the longest warranty in New Zealand - 6 years full parts and labour warranty when you choose a Fujitsu Accredited Installer, or 5 years if you choose a non-accredited installer.

Energy Efficiency - Efficiency means lower running cost, and a healthier environment. By their very nature, heat pumps are the most efficient form of heating there is. But different brands also have different levels of efficiency too - check to see the brand you are purchasing has the Energy Star logo, and the ratings from EECA. Efficiency has always been a priority with Fujitsu.

Quiet Operation - Most heat pumps are quiet indoors, as the only sound comes from the fan. The decibel levels of our heat pumps are shown in the brochure specifications. Fujitsu’s improved fan design and quiet mode on many models means that you simply cannot buy a quieter heat pump anywhere.
